Tonight on West End Dumplings - The Radio Edition at 7:00 p.m. on 101.5 UMFM ....

My guests will be Abigail Auld and Monica Hutton from the Winnipeg Architecture Foundation. Their exhibit, University of Manitoba Modern Architecture, runs at the Millennium Library until June 30. We'll talk about the campus, their favourite buildings, (one is Robson Hall), and if modern architecture matters in Winnipeg.

Next week in Manitoba history, a pair of Manitoba's hockey greats, Frank Frederickson of the Winnipeg Falcons and NHL goaltender Terry Sawchuck, died. CBWT (CBC), Manitoba's first television station begins broadcasting and the agreement to build the Red River Floodway is signed. It's also Brandon's birthday !

May 29th is the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Empress of Ireland which killed more than 1,000 people, most of them Canadians. I will preview research I am doing for my next blog post about the Manitoba victims.
